The Government of the Canary Islands has announced that it will increase the budget that was planned for Lanzarote for 2016 by 2.1 million euros. This money aims to finance, among other projects, the underwater museum of Jason de Caires in front of Marina Rubicón. According to the Cabildo in a statement, this amount will also be used to improve the Fishing School and the project of the new House of Volcanoes, as well as the restaurant of Jameos del Agua, which will be executed by the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
The Minister of Finance of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rosa Dávila, traveled to Lanzarote this Thursday to announce that the Government of the Canary Islands will give the green light to this "improvement of the budgets with Lanzarote." After the institutional meeting held with Dávila in Jameos del Agua, the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, pointed out that the proposal for the Canary Islands to "guide the financing of the Atlantic Museum of Jason de Caires" came from Marciano Acuña. The deputy, who is also a representative of the Municipalities of Haría, Yaiza and Tinajo in the Board of Directors of the Centers, proposed the idea to María Teresa Lorenzo, being "aware of the existence of both non-insularized items in the draft budget of the Government of the Canary Islands and that the projects of the EPEL-CACT have a perfect fit in those items", San Ginés pointed out.

Acuña also suggested that the Government of the Canary Islands should "partially" finance the project of the new House of Volcanoes and the restaurant of Jameos del Agua, which according to San Ginés are worth 800,000 and 1,200,000 euros, respectively. In this way, he added, the Centers can "allocate those funds already planned in their budget to supplement the cooperation plans of the Cabildo of Lanzarote." On the other hand, San Ginés thanked the "key role" played by both Marciano Acuña and the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, María Teresa Lorenzo, "so that the Autonomous Executive gives the green light to a strategic measure for the development of the island."
The regional minister believes that these "improvements will favor competitiveness"
The Minister of Finance, Rosa Dávila, for her part, pointed out that the introduction of these improvements in the budget of the Government of the Canary Islands "will favor competitiveness and will give a qualitative leap to the tourist offer of the third island of the archipelago that is most dynamizing its economic fabric."
Marciano Acuña, meanwhile, pointed out that the increase in the item destined to Lanzarote should "be a reason for happiness for the island since the Cabildo of Lanzarote will be able to reinforce the municipal cooperation plans that are being so successful with the seven municipalities of the island."
The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, and the deputy and first vice president of the Board of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, David De la Hoz.
