The councilor of Arrecife, Nayra Callero, has sent a statement to respond to the controversy opened by the works she carried out on the terrace of her penthouse and has done so by attacking the councilor of Alternativa Ciudadana, Blanca Blancas, whom she accuses of having carried out supposedly illegal works on her home in Tahíche.
Regarding the works denounced by AC, and for which both this party and the PP have requested the resignation of Nayra Callero and the councilor José Montelongo for "allowing" this situation, the councilor limits herself to stating that "the denounced enclosure can even be dismantled if necessary." However, she adds that "Blanca Blancas has built part of her luxurious and renovated house in Tahíche on public land, without a license and without any subsequent action after becoming aware of the blatant breach of urban planning laws."
Callero focuses her statement on reproaching the "despicable double standard" of Alternativa Ciudadana and throws Blanca Blancas' own party's phrase back in her face when referring to her penthouse: "Councilors are not above the rest of the citizens and must scrupulously comply with the laws."
License application "a posteriori"
In this regard, the councilor of Arrecife and former member of the PP states that "according to what she has learned", regarding the Tahíche home of her fellow Corporation member, "there is an unfavorable report from the Technical Office of the Teguise City Council, after some expansion works on the property for which a license was requested a posteriori."
According to Nayra Callero, there is a report "dated July 10, 2012 and with Registration number 3832" that indicates that "both the plot and the building located on it do not comply with the applicable regulations, as they do not conform to the official alignments, invade land intended for public roads and also present annexes (extensions) in the setback."
"Therefore – concludes the responsible technician – the requested extension could not be authorized as the building is already non-compliant with the planning and no works could be carried out, except for repair and conservation works."
In the opinion of the non-attached councilor, "from the aforementioned document it is translated that Blanca Blancas carried out expansion works on her residence in Tahíche without the necessary permits and in the subsequent inspection, after requesting the license with the facts consummated, the Teguise City Council detected numerous irregularities."
