Arrecife will place more than 800,000 LEP bulbs to illuminate Christmas, and has begun the installation of the first lights in the neighborhoods and in the city center.
According to the City Council, “there are more than 800 figures, arches, porticos and garlands that can be seen adorning streets, squares and parks of the municipality in the coming days.”
The center of Arrecife, recalls the City Council, El Reducto beach, Avenida Marítima, Islas Canarias park, José Ramírez Cerdá park, the commercial areas, the Castle of San Gabriel, the Puente de las Bolas and the Charco de San Ginés “will be important points of this Christmas lighting.”
From the City Council they point out that in this way the open commercial areas acquire “a Christmas atmosphere that invites you to go out and visit the hospitality establishments and shops that have suffered, like many other sectors, the drastic consequences derived from the reduction in sales due to Covid-19, and who are optimistic about the beginning of these dates.”
“This year the Christmas lighting brings surprises because we want citizens to feel proud of a city that loves and wants to experience Christmas in its streets and neighborhoods,” says Mayor Astrid Pérez.
As clarified by the City Council, there is still no firm date for the official lighting of the Christmas lights, which will be “the luminous starting gun for the start of Christmas in our streets”, although they anticipate that “several days of the penultimate week of the month of November” are being considered.
The City Council informs that the company Morales Iluminación, S.L. is once again in charge of the installation of all the Christmas lighting after being awarded the work last year for an amount of 310,00 euros, for the years 2020 and 2021, and with the possibility of extending it for another two years.
