The Municipal Government of Arrecife has given the green light for the public toilet area on El Reducto beach to extend its opening hours.

With the arrival of summer, the Department of Beaches, led by Councilor Davinia Déniz, has confirmed a greater presence of bathers on the beach, both in the early hours of the morning and at sunset. To this end, her Department has adapted the new technical specifications and has put out to tender the provision of services for cleaning the toilets and their facilities.

Thus, the Public Sector Procurement Platform has published since June 26 the official announcement of the tender "Cleaning service of the bathrooms located on El Reducto beach". Companies and interested individuals have until July 28 to submit their economic proposals for this new tender.

Including taxes, this tender is set at 159,861.03 euros for a period of two years. The specifications provide for the option of an extension for another two years.

Councilor Davinia Déniz has highlighted that this new tender provides for the necessary personnel to cover the cleaning tasks of the bathrooms every day of the year, with the new hours between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (currently the opening is between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.), as well as the reinforcement of the new services with which this urban beach in the capital of Lanzarote has been equipped.

El Reducto is the only beach on the island of volcanoes that offers a free locker service (next to the bathrooms) and has - since last autumn - a toilet/room for ostomized people.
