THE STRIKE CALL HAS ALREADY BEEN COMMUNICATED TO THE LABOR AUTHORITY

Arrecife Intervention gives the green light to a payment to workers but does not stop the strike on the 20th

"The fight is not only to get paid, but for many more breaches," says the UGT representative in the City Council

The Intervention department of the Arrecife City Council has given the green light to the payment of a supplement that has been owed "since September" to the workers, but this will not stop the partial strike called for next December 20. "This does not mean that we stop," said the representative of UGT in the Consistory, Andrés Ginés González, pointing out that "the fight is not only to get paid, but for many more breaches."

Specifically, the payment of the performance evaluation supplement has now been audited, a supplement that, according to González, is paid to workers according to an evaluation that is done every four months. "We are evaluated like children for our attitude, capacity, etcetera, and that is extrapolated into an amount of money," explained the UGT representative in the Arrecife City Council. An amount that is not the same for everyone, but depends on that evaluation, but that would be around "200 euros on average."

However, this is not the only thing that according to Andrés Ginés González is owed to the workers, as he claims that they are also owed "overtime, social aid and payment for the sentence to workers in higher categories."

Samuel Martín commits to paying everything owed to them

"We already have the productivity audited so that Human Resources can incorporate it into the next payroll or make a payroll in the middle of December and we are going to start working with the rest of the payments that are owed to the municipal workers," said the Councilor for Economy and Finance of the City Council, Samuel Martín, on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.

Martín has not given a date for the payment of what is owed to the employees, but he wanted to highlight the "effort" and "work" that is being done in Intervention since the arrival in August of the new auditor. "In addition, she is also a worker of the Arrecife City Council and I do not think she wants to harm her own colleagues, but quite the opposite. She has worked and has not only spent the mornings, but also the afternoons and many weekends to carry out the external work of the City Council, but also the one that affects her own colleagues and herself," he said.

Labor agreement, RPT and internal promotions

However, the workers' demands go beyond the economic, as the UGT representative in the Consistory has recalled, as they also denounce breaches of the labor agreement, that the Job Position List has not been updated and the absence of calls for internal promotion.

Therefore, despite the fact that the payment of the performance evaluation supplement has been given the green light, Andrés Ginés González points out that they are going ahead with the strike planned for December 20 and that, in fact, "it has already been communicated to the labor authority."
