The socialist Arcadio Díaz Tejera announced a few minutes ago, during the celebration of the Regional Committee of the Canarian Socialist Party (PSC-PSOE) in the capital of Gran Canaria, that he will present his candidacy on March 20 to aspire to the general secretariat of the formation in the Archipelago. He has also shown himself to be in favor of perpetuating the 'theses' defended by López Aguilar until now.

Díaz Tejera, who attends together with the rest of the socialist leadership to the Committee in which the current leader of the PSC in the Islands has pronounced his 'official farewell' to the position, thus becomes the second person in the party who aspires to its regional leadership, after the insular secretary of the PSC in Gran Canaria, José Miguel Pérez, announced it last week.

The name of the next regional secretary of the PSC is expected to be known on March 20 after the celebration of an extraordinary Congress. Precisely this morning López Aguilar insisted on the need for both the succession debate and the new leadership to be based on the "unity" and "fraternity" of the socialist militancy.
