The Association of Consumers and Users of Lanzarote (Aculanza) has announced that it will prepare "a complaint document", which it will send to the Environmental Prosecutor's Office, on the state of conservation of the palm trees on the Arrecife Ring Road. "Day by day they are being eliminated due to a lack of minimal care," the association has warned.

The decision was adopted at the last Aculanza meeting, in which the possible paralysis or slowdown of this road was analyzed in the face of the cut in the State budgets. In this regard, the association maintains that it is inexplicable that this road has not been completed, despite the fact that it has been budgeted repeatedly and with "sufficient anticipation".

In this sense, Aculanza believes it is necessary to identify the people responsible "for such nonsense" and will request this information "where appropriate, including the judicial instance." The association also believes that it should identify "the head of Public Works or Development", in case "in the immediate future there is any event that implies material or personal damage" on that road. The objective of this "identification" is to be able to ask them "in advance for the corresponding civil and criminal liability".

Other claims

In addition, Aculanza has indicated in a press release that it wants to know how much energy has been saved with the Los Valles wind farm and with the Zonzamas Complex. It has also shown its interest in an island supply market and an island consumer arbitration system.

Aculanza also intends to participate in the Island Water Council and in the arbitration resolutions between the subscribers to the service and Inalsa. "There are still multiple issues to resolve, such as compensation to users in the south for defective water, and regularly charged at a useful and healthy price, when such a condition is in question," the association said.

Aculanza has also indicated that "if no new hitches are discovered", the Arrecife City Council will give the green light to the construction of a large commercial area, "which will increase competition and reduce prices". "It will be in a period of less than three months and with a clear purpose of opening in 2013," the association stated.
