Ulises and Gloria continue their fight so that the Government of the Canary Islands does not give up for adoption the child they have been fostering for more than two years and have called a solidarity march "for the best interests of the child" and "for the effective protection of all their rights" for this Friday, April 30th.

This is not the first protest carried out by this married couple residing in Lanzarote who, since last year, have been demanding that they be given permanent custody of the child, considering that if they give him up for adoption to another family, it would mean a "traumatic rupture" for the minor, who will turn three in August. And, in addition to being separated from them, the child would also lose contact with his biological parents, who have been in contact with the minor and supporting the protests of Ulises and Gloria.

As Ulises Montesdeoca has indicated to La Voz, the matter is pending trial but, in this time, the General Directorate of Child and Family Protection has presented up to "three requests" in the Courts to remove the child from them.

"All three have been denied. They have fallen in different Courts and the judges have dismissed them, but they have appealed the last one," said this foster father. And, he affirms that the regional Executive intends to "take the child to a minor's center in Tinajo until the problem is resolved."

"That's not fair," considers Ulises, who affirms that they are in "a constant state of anxiety." However, he is confident that the trial can be held "in a month and a half or two months" and that the child can stay with them. "Right now there is a legal vacuum, which we don't know, but the child is with us for now and we are not going to let him go," he says.

As for the solidarity march that will be held on Friday, it will start at 6:00 p.m. from the Puente de las Bolas in Arrecife.
