The couple fighting to prevent the Government of the Canary Islands from giving up for adoption the child they have been fostering for two years has held a new protest rally in front of the headquarters of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, where they had been summoned this Thursday to hand over the minor to the General Directorate of Protection of Children and Families of the regional Executive.
"We did not enter the meeting," said Ulises Montesdeoca, confirming that they have decided not to hand over the child "for the good of the minor." And it is that this marriage, supported by the biological parents, maintains that giving it up for adoption "would break the emotional stability" of the child.

In addition, they point out that "the biological mother has been suffering from a serious illness for a year and a half" and that "they have not given her time to fight for her son."
The foster parents of the minor already held a protest a month ago to try to prevent the adoption, but then they were told that the procedure was continuing. After that, Ulises affirms that they requested precautionary measures in the Court to stop the adoption, but "there has been no response yet."
Thus, this Thursday they were summoned to hand over the child but, instead, Ulises and Gloria, together with the biological parents of the minor and supported by other citizens, have decided to concentrate as a protest. "May minors not be a file" and "For the welfare of the minor" was read again on the banners they carried.

"I don't know what measures they will take now, if they will go to the judge to request a court order and take the child away," said Ulises, who still hopes that "there will be luck" and the minor will remain with them.
