A man in critical condition after a near drowning at La Concha beach

A 75-year-old man is in critical condition after suffering a near drowning at La Concha Beach, in the municipality of Arrecife.

The incident occurred at 7:02 p.m. this Sunday, July 27, when the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting the rescue of an unconscious man in the water.

Immediately, CECOES activated the necessary emergency resources. A medicalized ambulance and another basic life support ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), as well as Local Police officers, were dispatched to the scene.

The SUC medical personnel assessed the affected man, who showed signs of severe near drowning. After being stabilized at the scene, the man was transferred in critical condition in a medicalized ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.

The Local Police were in charge of preparing the corresponding reports on what happened.
