Two boats with 112 people have been rescued by Maritime Rescue on Sunday, February 5.
The first one was a pneumatic boat with 58 sub-Saharan immigrants on board, including a child. The Maritime Rescue center in Las Palmas received a notice that the boat had departed from Tan-Tan (Morocco) heading to the coasts of Lanzarote.
The Guardamar Caliope has come to their aid and ships in the navigation area have been asked to help while the Maritime Rescue vessel arrived.
At 11:55 a.m., the CS Service ship reported that it was near the pneumatic boat, 1.6 miles away, and stayed next to it until the arrival of the Guardamar Caliope.
At about 12:35 p.m., the Maritime Rescue vessel arrived and rescued the 58 people on board, 45 of them men, 12 women and one minor.
After that rescue, and four miles from Arrecife, the Guardamar Caliope rescued a second boat with 54 sub-Saharan immigrants, 48 men, three women and three minors.
All the immigrants have been disembarked at the Arrecife dock at around 3:30 p.m.
With these two boats, there are already four boats that have arrived in Lanzarote, in total there are 204 people.
