Timanfaya National Park has launched a new service for visitors, which consists of online booking for guided walking tours of Termesana and the Litoral, and visits to the Visitor and Interpretation Center of Mancha Blanca with detailed explanations by park staff. In addition, schools that want to participate in the different initiatives programmed in the natural space of Lanzarote aimed at students benefit from this new system, an activity that will begin to be developed from the next school year.
The arrangement of these activities is done from the website of the Network of National Parks, through access to the reservation center (www.reservasparquesnacionales.es), where users can register for guided walking tours up to two months in advance of their arrival at the National Park. In this way, they obtain a permit with a reservation locator and a user key with which they can cancel if they are not going to use the activity.
The information included in the reservation center is available in Spanish, English, German and French. Also, from the same website you can download in PDF format different brochures and leaflets in several languages, in order to be useful to visitors of the National Park of Lanzarote in the organization and planning of their appointment with this enclave of great beauty, where the black and reddish tones of lapilli and sands and the dark ones of basaltic lavas predominate.
The walking routes of Termesana and the Litoral are one of the activities that can be scheduled in advance through the Internet. Its organization is with small groups, which are accompanied by an interpreter guide, with the option of doing the walks in Spanish or English.
The offer to visit the Visitor and Interpretation Center of Mancha Blanca with a guide is another of the options included in the online system created by the National Park. This service is aimed at tourists and social, neighborhood, senior citizen and cultural groups and associations.
From this center you can appreciate the riches of the Natural Park. This place is a semi-submerged building in a lava flow that has received three architecture awards. Users have at their disposal informative exhibitions, interactive videos, in addition to participating in volcanic simulations. The center also has a sensory room adapted for people with visual or hearing disabilities.
In order to bring this National Park, which represents the most recent volcanism that has occurred, closer to the school population, a specific section has been set up in the online reservation center, through which schools can arrange visits and participate in the different activities designed for each of the educational levels, such as puppet shows, storytelling and school tournaments. This section will be enabled on the website at the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year.
Timanfaya and the Caldera de Taburiente are the only two national parks in the country that currently have the online reservation service. The Government of the Canary Islands, with the interest of providing visitors with a greater knowledge of the natural spaces of the Canary Islands with the highest level of protection and to provide them with greater comfort to participate in the activities programmed in them, has launched this system that will soon be extended to the other two Canarian national parks.
