Last Saturday, the Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez wrestling arena in Tías hosted the XIX Edition of the El Pavón Popular Music Encounter.
The first to take the stage were the almost thirty members of the "Parranda Chasnera". Arriving from the Tenerife municipality of Granadilla de Abona, they chose the Anthem to the Canarian Fight for their performance and as the first theme, managing to get the public to follow them with the refrains and applause. During the fifty minutes of their performance, they did not lower the rhythm at any time, choosing a repertoire of traditional Canarian compositions that were mixed with rancheras, joropos and boleros, all of them with extraordinary quality. The "Paranda Chasnera", in its ten years of constitution, has taken its music throughout the Canary Islands. Curiously, this was the first time they performed in Lanzarote. Without a doubt, they left the stage "very happy for the reception and affection of the public".
The second part of the meeting was for the organizers, the family of the El Pavón Musical Group who dedicated this edition to the "Culture of Water in Lanzarote", presenting several compositions alluding to the theme chosen for this year.
El Pavón, directed by Professor Juan Manuel Reyes, gave the best of himself, getting the audience very excited with the chosen repertoire to follow them until the end of their performance. Despite the difficult times, the El Pavón family continues with the commitment obtained 24 years ago, achieving with much effort and sacrifice that the traditions of the Canarian people remain alive.
In the final moments of the concert, El Pavón invited the Chasnera family to take the stage and together, they performed a final parrandera isa, ending with a spicy polka. The audience applauded standing and rewarded them for such a good evening.
