The town of Tiagua said goodbye this Monday to the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Socorro with Mass and Procession. The Eucharist was presided over by Juan Jesús García, a priest from Gran Canaria, and was assisted by Juan Antonio Artiles, parish priest of Tinajo, and Rafael Tejera, parish priest of San Bartolomé. García was the one who preached the Homily, with a very current content with the times where many cling to the fact that the past was better, not enjoying the present nor wanting to face a future for fear of the unknown, remaining stopped in time. Juan Jesús also told some anecdotes that happened to his mother, the years she had to live in her hometown of Tiagua until she moved to Gran Canaria.

The songs for the Eucharist were performed by the Iris del Mar Choir of Valterra. With very tuned voices, once again they managed to give a fresh and renewed air to the celebration.

After the Eucharist, the image of Socorro, carried on the shoulders by the costaleros, residents of Tiagua and accompanied by the celebrating priests, authorities and parishioners, toured the main streets of the town, decorated for the occasion. On the way back and before the image crossed the portico of the small hermitage, the neighbor Angelita, as usual every year, recited an emotional poem to Our Lady of Socorro. The finishing touch was put by the members of the Iris del Mar choir who sang a prayer made into a song.
