The Department of Equal Opportunities between Women and Men of the San Bartolomé City Council has resolved the 5th Edition of the Literary Contest "Educating in Equality, against gender violence" convened in the municipal I.E.S., and the 2nd Edition of the Photography Contest Against Gender Violence whose theme is "Male involvement".
Celina Campi is the name of the winner of the literary contest of the I.E.S. Playa Honda, with the short story entitled "Countdown". Due to the quality of the works presented, special mention is made to the following works: "Don't think you're better than women", by Rocío Belén Ramírez, and "Platonic Love", by Isabel González Formoso, in the comic modality.
The prize of the I.E.S. of San Bartolomé was declared void
The winner of the Photography Contest is Ricardo Nicolás Melián Méndez with the work entitled "Every time you mistreat a woman, you destroy a piece of yourself", which corresponds to a series of three photographs. This work will be the image of the Campaign Against Gender Violence that will be carried out by the Department of Equality and that will be presented on November 25 within the events organized by said Department.
The San Bartolomé City Council, through the Department of Equality, will hold events on November 23, 25 and 27 to commemorate the celebration of the International Day Against Gender Violence, and invites all residents to participate in the organized events.
Three days of events against gender violence
On Monday, November 23 in the San Bartolomé Municipal Theater, at 8:00 p.m. the opening of the exhibition of the works submitted to the photographic and literary contest will be held and then, the staging of the play "Women", by the theater company Somos, will take place at 9:00 p.m.
At 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 25th, the "March against gender violence" will begin, starting from Casa Ajei and ending at the San Bartolomé City Council. This will be followed by the thematic representation, by the Raíces del Pueblo theater group, the reading of the manifesto, the presentation of the campaign against gender violence, "Every time you mistreat a woman, you destroy a piece of yourself" and the awards ceremony of the photography and literary contests.
A workshop for City Council workers
Finally, on Friday, November 27, the workshop "Equality and gender awareness", aimed at City Council workers, will be held, whose objectives are to expose the concepts of roles and stereotypes in force in our society, the analysis of the repercussions of gender inequality in all areas, the knowledge of the types of violence and the cycle of violence and the prevention against the reproduction of unequal ideas and behaviors.
