The Canary Islands Hunting Council has set the rabbit hunting days in Lanzarote, both with podenco and ferret and with falconry birds, on Thursdays and Sundays between August 5 and November 11, both inclusive.
It has also set the hunting days for partridge and wild pigeon, both with shotgun and pointer dog and with falconry birds, on Sundays between September 16 and November 11. The publication of the aforementioned hunting periods on the island can be consulted in the BOC of June 29, 2018, as reported by the Cabildo.
In this sense, the councilor responsible for the Hunting area in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Antonio Morales, thanks "the Hunting Council of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Vice-Ministry of Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands for facilitating reaching an agreement for the hunting season to open on the same day on all the islands, which will prevent the mass influx of hunters in Lanzarote, which would have occurred if the opening had been staggered".
Permit for hunting activity in La Graciosa
On the other hand, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Hunting area and in compliance with an agreement adopted by the Island Hunting Council, has set Monday, July 23 as the deadline to apply for a permit for hunting activity in La Graciosa for those hunters not residing on the eighth island.
Interested persons must process their applications at the General Registry of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, attaching a photocopy of the hunting license, controlled hunting receipt and civil liability insurance in force of the hunter.
The designation of authorized hunters -three for each hunting day with a maximum of eight dogs- will be made by drawing or any other criteria deemed appropriate.
Test for obtaining the hunting license
On the other hand, the Training Room of the Cabildo of Lanzarote will host at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 a new aptitude test to obtain the hunting license for the first time in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The regulatory bases of this test, approved by the Island Government Council, can be consulted in the BOC of May 11, 2018.
Interested persons have until 2:00 p.m. on the same Thursday, July 19 to submit the applications to the General Registry of the Cabildo, which must be accompanied by a certified photocopy of the ID or passport.
Among the requirements to be admitted to these tests are being over 14 years of age and not having previously accredited the aptitude and knowledge necessary to obtain, for the first time, the mandatory hunting license.
The tests will consist of a theoretical and a practical part, whose contents are exposed in the official program, included in the hunter's manual prepared by the Government of the Canary Islands. For more information, you can contact the Hunting Area of the Cabildo through the telephone 928 83-65-90/91.
