In this sense, the technical specialist in the restoration of mural painting, Antonio Sánchez-Barriga, responsible at the time for preparing the report on the state of the works after their discovery, will travel to the Island at the end of next week to take charge of this task. The Ministry of Culture thus responds to the letter sent from the Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council to the Spanish Historical Heritage Institute, in which the collaboration of specialist personnel in the matter was requested.

The works will consist, basically, of the application of a special paper on the murals that would guarantee, in this way, their protection. The City Council also intends to erect a plasterboard a short distance from the works so that they are protected while the rehabilitation works of the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture last, which were scheduled to be completed at the beginning of next June, and which have been delayed due to the discovery of the murals. "The Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture will open next summer, and it will be at that time when the murals can begin to be restored," said the Councilor for Culture, Miguel Ángel Ferrer, "Until that moment, what we have been concerned with has been to guarantee their protection."

The City Council has wanted to highlight and thank the César Manrique Foundation for the collaboration provided at all times, "whose mediation has been very important in order to obtain the help of the Ministry of Culture," Ferrer highlighted.
