The Lanzarote painter Ángeles García will show her latest works in an exhibition that can be seen in the El Aljibe Hall of the El Almacén Island Cultural Center. The exhibition, entitled "One of Hearts", will open next Tuesday, May 20, at 8:30 p.m., and will remain open to the public for a month, until June 20. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the morning and from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

During the opening ceremony, dance and music will be especially relevant. The dancers Acerina H. Toledo and Keila Hernández Saavedra will offer a dance show entitled "In parallel", composed of two pieces, and which will lead the attendees from the upper part to the El Aljibe Hall, where the exhibition is shown. One of the pieces will be a fado and the other a song by Tom Waits.

Music will also have its space at the inauguration with two

performances: the first by the singer Mellany Morales and the second by the Sultan Jazz group. Both have been grouped under the name of "A voces".

Ángeles García's paintings are an approach to women and their universe, since female figures are always the main protagonists of her compositions. They are portraits and nudes full of color and expressive force, with a certain well of melancholy in the faces, postures, bodies and gestures of the figures represented. German expressionism seems to have left an important mark on the artist's creative universe, in which admiration for the portraits of Lucien Freud or Francis Bacon is also sensed.

Although Ángeles' work is the one that monopolizes the spotlight, the exhibition will have a multidisciplinary character.

Thus, the audiovisual montage that will be located in one of the cisterns, and which is entitled "Inversion" is made up of images and photographs of Ángeles García herself and other creators such as Pili García Pereyra, Ricardo Montesdeoca and Clemen Martín. Snapshots of Ricardo Montesdeoca himself will cover the walls of that cistern.

On the walls of the other cistern hang paintings by Clemen Martín, which are grouped under the name of "Monday before lunch". In addition, throughout the room will extend texts about the painting of Ángeles García, work of the writers Pili Pomares and Oliverio. All these complementary activities to the main exhibition, "One of Hearts", will be present in the room during the entire month that the exhibition lasts.
