The Guanapay Castle in Teguise closes its doors until the end of the year, in order to complete the transformation works into a Pirate Museum, according to the mayor of Teguise, Juan Pedro Hernández.

The Immigrant Museum that it housed is being moved to the Historical Archive in La Villa de Teguise. The improvement works have had a cost of 103,000 euros, an investment that has been shared between the Teguise City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Association for the Development of Lanzarote (Aderlan) and the Social Work of the Caja de Canarias.

The interventions have focused basically on the waterproofing of the Castle and the adaptation to new technologies. In the Museum, models, reproductions and other audiovisual and computer elements will be installed, with pirates as the protagonists.
