The municipality of Tías premiered its special program with the arrival of Christmas and New Year's Eve on Thursday afternoon. The Departments of Festivities, Culture and Tourism, respectively, have programmed multiple activities with a lot of Christmas sound for these dates. The inauguration of the Tías Nativity Scene, next to the Town Hall square, has been joined on the afternoon of this Thursday, December 5, by the opening of the Christmas Market in Puerto del Carmen, with the presence of the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, and the Councilor for Tourism of the City Council, Nerea Santana.

The Plaza de Las Naciones, next to Los Pocillos beach, in Puerto del Carmen, hosts the traditional Christmas Market until this coming Sunday, the 8th. The Charanga Nomes 13 made the opening with a special performance and parade of the hundreds of people who filled the Plaza de Las Naciones. On Thursday, in addition, the Cantajuegos arrived and at 7:00 p.m. a Flashmob exhibition took place, with students from the Beatrice Senent, Marlene Pierce and Óscar Fleites dance schools.

On the afternoon of Friday the 6th (5:00 p.m.) Peppa Pig, Pocoyó and Dora the Explorer visited the Christmas Market. At 6:00 p.m. the Music Band offered a special concert and at 7:00 p.m. a Performance with the members of Indieras Teatro. On Friday night the music was provided by the group Treintaytantos.

El Golpito and Magic show


The Tourism Department of the Tías City Council has planned several recreational and dynamizing activities for the area during these Christmas Market days, aimed at both residents and tourists who travel on these dates to find the sun and silver of Puerto del Carmen. On Saturday the 7th, there will be a Christmas concert and sing-alongs, starting at 5:30 p.m. At 7 pm a magic show, and at 8 pm, the El Golpito party group will offer a performance.

Visit from Santa Claus and delivery of letters


On Sunday, the 8th, the last day of opening of the Christmas Market, Santa Claus and the Elves will be received. And all the boys and girls of Lanzarote will be able to deliver their letters to Santa Claus. During these days of the Christmas Market, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare of the Tías City Council will set up a stand for those families who wish to share and donate gifts for families without resources who reside on the Island.
