The mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, in her name and in that of the Corporation she chairs, has publicly conveyed her condolences for the death of León Tejera.
A resident of Argana Alta, Tejera was popularly known as "the gardener of the maretas" and was recognized in 2008 by the City Council for the voluntary work he carried out in Arrecife. Tejera carried out cleaning and improvement work on the surface of the capital's cisterns and maintained a green area with all kinds of species.
De Anta has announced that the Senior Citizens area of the Department of Social Services will maintain the planned tribute to Tejera, approved a few months ago following a motion by Ganemos Lanzarote, although it will be done posthumously, next August.
León Tejera was a worker of Roads and Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and participated in the construction of the Tourist Centers and other infrastructures of Lanzarote.
