Second prize for Juan Cruces in the IV Photography Contest Against Gender Violence

"Not for money III", by Juan Cruces Giraldes, was the only image awarded in the IV Photography Contest Against Gender Violence, convened by the Women's Care Service of the Teguise City Council and which was decided on the morning of Thursday, November 12. The person in charge of reading the contest's decision was the councilor of the Women's area, María Soledad Armas Rodríguez, who also posed next to the awarded image.

The evaluation of the presented images left the first prize for best image and the prizes for the two best series vacant.

"The best series" was initially for "The other victims", but once the winner's envelope was opened, it was verified that it did not meet one of the requirements of the rules, being a resident in the Canary community. The jury left the other prizes for the best series and the best photograph vacant.

The exhibition open to the public

The jury, composed of the photographers Javier Alonso Labrador, Jesús Gigante Franco and Ricardo Montesdeoca, therefore discarded those images that did not respond to the format or disregarded the orientation of the contest rules and awarded Juan Carlos Cruces for that image that speaks of the economic independence of women.

The exhibition of the more than 30 photographs that competed in the contest will remain in the Spínola Palace of the Villa de Teguise for the next few days. The room is not open on Saturdays and has hours from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
