The San Bartolomé City Council inaugurated this Friday the sculptural complex 'Homage to the cultivation of sweet potatoes', a work carried out by the Lanzarote artist Cintia Machín, which aims to value and recognize the figure of the field workers in the municipality.

The mayor, Isidro Pérez, highlighted during the presentation ceremony that, “once again, San Bartolomé becomes a place where culture and art have a privileged space. Our municipality has become a welcoming place for artists from all fields.”

Pérez also wanted to thank the artist Cintia Machín for her work, on which she stated “thanks to the work that artists like Cintia do for the municipality, San Bartolomé breathes art.”

The first mayor also stated that “this work is a sample of the recognition we make to the effort of the farmers who, daily, through the effort involved in their work in the field, make us feel more deeply the feeling of the neighbors of San Bartolomé.”

The monumental complex is part of the San Bartolomé Sculptural Plan, a project that aims to enhance the cultural and patrimonial values rooted in the municipality, providing different artistic spaces in the different spaces around the municipality.

This project aims to renew the look of the neighbors, as well as visitors, with the installation of works in different parts of the municipality, creating a small urban museum in the town.
