Students from the schools of San Bartolomé will be able to attend school reinforcement classes during this summer. The City Council of the municipality has launched a project financed by the Obra Social La Caixa that will allow secondary school students, but also primary and high school students depending on the demand, to attend these classes at the CEIP Ajei and the CEIP Playa Honda.

This Thursday morning the Summer 2015 School Reinforcement Project was presented at the Civic Center of Playa Honda, in which the first deputy mayor of San Bartolomé, David Rocío, Isabel Sosa, councilor for youth, Leopoldo Ibáñez, director of La Caixa in Playa Honda and Macarena Betancort, president of the AMPA Sabor Guacimeta were present.

This project, fully funded by the Obra Social de la Caixa, has a cost of 6,000 euros. In this regard, Isabel Sosa, in addition to thanking the Obra Social La Caixa for its "economic support and solidarity", explained the existing need for students to have support and school review classes in the summer, which will now be offered through this initiative.

Sosa pointed out that the classes are intended for students basically from secondary schools in the different educational centers of the municipality, with special emphasis on the fact that it is also offered to primary and baccalaureate depending on the demand. The councilor also took the opportunity to thank the AMPAS, which "have been considerably involved", and the educational centers for their support.

The classes will be taught at the CEIP Ajei from 11:00 to 13:00 and at the CEIP Playa Honda in the morning, from 9:00 to 13:00. The service, which is offered through the Academia Tágora Estudios e Intervención Social, will be offered from July 1 to August 28 and each group will consist of 15 students. The number of places to attend these classes is limited, with preference given to students who study in the municipality. The requirement is the grades of the students, that is, that the need for review is justified.

"Social and training objective"

The press conference began with the intervention of David Rocío, thanking La Caixa for its collaboration and the AMPAS of the municipality for their predisposition and initiative, especially the Ampa Sabor Guacimeta, from whom this proposal arose. Rocío expressed his desire that this project "fulfill its social and training objective".
