One of the oldest theater companies in the Archipelago, Profetas de Mueble Bar, will visit the island of Lanzarote with one of its latest productions, "¡Ay, Canarias mía!". A work in which they make a sarcastic and ironic portrait of the most deeply rooted customs in Canarian society. Doña Lola, Frasca, Chona, Reyita and Lala will be in charge of putting some of the cultural topics of the Islands on stage, and will offer the public from a Canarian fight to typical dances and songs.
Loaded with humor, but also with a certain critical dose, the components of Profetas de Mueble Bar arm themselves with farces, and in two acts and an intermission they put on a parody in which they review the expressions, the ways, the traditions and the most recognizable elements of Canarian culture. It is, as they themselves describe it, "a racial show", in which the public will not stop laughing and will want to meet their "invited artists" again.
"¡Ay, Canarias mía!" is directed and produced by the company itself (with Juan Ramón Pérez, Fernando Navas and Carmelo Alcántara as the main people in charge), with lighting and sound by Carlos Ramos and Benito Arencibia, and costumes and space by Bartolomé Ruano. In the main roles, the same Navas, Alcántara and Pérez, accompanied by Luis Monzón and Aroa Santana.
The performance of "¡Ay, Canarias mía!" can be seen next Thursday, March 24, at 9:00 p.m., at the Teatro de San Bartolomé. Tickets cost 10 euros and can be purchased in the Education and Culture area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and in the Culture department of the San Bartolomé City Council, in the Casa Ajei.
The work of Profetas de Mueble Bar can be seen in Lanzarote thanks to the organization of the Education and Culture Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands and the San Bartolomé City Council.
