Nursing assistants carry the worst patient ratio in primary care teams in Lanzarote. Specifically, the island only has 31 professionals of this type distributed in its health centers and offices. This is reflected in the data from the Primary Care Information System (SIAP), collected by the Lanzarote Data Center, with respect to the end of 2023, which excludes the figures for Emergency personnel.
Despite the fact that the staff of assistants has grown by 287% on the island compared to 2022, going from eight to 31, in total each nursing assistant has a ratio of 4,932 patients in Lanzarote.
In this line, the administrative assistants, which have grown by 44.6% on the island in one year and have gone from 56 to 81, carry the second worst ratio of primary care teams, with one worker for every 1,888 patients.
Between 2022 and 2023, only four family doctors were hired (a growth of 4.3%), going from 92 to 96 doctors distributed throughout the primary care centers of Lanzarote. Each family doctor in Lanzarote has 1,374 patients in their quota.
After that, the Nursing staff has a ratio of 916 patients for each primary care nurse. On the island there are currently 167 nursing health professionals, 40.3% more than in 2022, when there were 119.
To conclude, each pediatrician on the island of volcanoes has 873 children and adolescents in their quota. Currently, Lanzarote only has 24 pediatricians to attend to all primary care spaces. This figure has barely varied in recent years and has even decreased by 4% between 2022 and 2023.
