McDonald's has decided to withdraw its advertising from the program "Summer Camp", after the request of more than 30,000 citizens for the treatment received by Noemí Merino from Lanzarote, when she was bathed in chocolate. McDonald's is the third company to withdraw advertisements from this reality show after Burger King and Mutua Madrileña.

But, in addition, HazteOir.org has reported that it will maintain its "alert" for the rest of the companies (Orange, Amena, Minute Maid, Coca Cola and ING Direct) that have not yet responded to the request of the citizens.

This website has posted the full statement from McDonald's, which says the following:

"After seeing the Summer Camp program broadcast by the TeleCinco channel, McDonald's Spain requested this channel to exclude its advertising from this program since August 7; a decision that applies to future broadcasts.

The company regrets the inconvenience caused by this incident, beyond its control. McDonald's Spain does not support any television program or acts of any other nature that show a demeaning attitude towards women or any other group.

The reservation of advertising spaces is made in advance and, as an advertiser, McDonald's Spain does not know the exact content of the programs in whose spaces its advertising is broadcast. According to the principles of the Spanish Association of Advertisers (AEA), it advocates freedom of expression of the media and the non-participation of advertisers in their editorial content".
