Lanzarote takes the stage. Mainly because the contest "Canarias Rueda", which is held individually in each of the islands of the Canary archipelago, requires that all the short films presented have 50% of exteriors filmed in Lanzarote. Thus, at the same time that "cinematographic creation is promoted, the impressive landscapes of Lanzarote are shown", said the acting Minister of Education and Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ángeles García, accompanied by the head of the Cine Buñuel, Alejandro Aguilar, and the winner of the contest on the island, Daniel Minayo, at the presentation of the winning short films.
Caletón Blanco, Tinguatón or the Isla de Los Lobos are some of the scenarios of "Another World", the short film by Daniel Minayo that has won the first prize. The second and third awards are for "De tenderete" by José María de Páiz and Luis Guadalupe, and "El Turista" by Alejandro Curbelo. The three winning short films in the Lanzarote edition will compete with the films from the rest of the islands for the award for the best digital short film of Canarias Rueda 2007.
This 3rd edition has had the participation of 16 short films of "great quality". This was stated by the members of the jury, which is composed of specialists from other islands "in order not to create suspicions when awarding the prize", explained Alejandro Aguilar, one of the organizers.
