The Red Solidaria Contra la Ocupación de Palestina (Rescop) platform, which brings together more than fifty organizations, has called for decentralized demonstrations this Saturday, January 20, for an end to the "genocide in Palestine, an end to the arms trade and the breaking of relations with Israel." Lanzarote has joined the call along with 80 other locations in Spain.

Dozens of people have marched along the avenue with banners reading "Stop the genocide", "For peace, no to the occupation" and "Free Palestine", among others. Upon arriving at the Charco de San Ginés, some of the protesters took the floor to express that although "few Palestinians live on the island, we want people to know what is really happening."

The demonstrations in favor of Palestine take place more than three months after the start of the conflict. Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, 106 days ago, 24,762 people have died in the Strip, mostly civilians, especially women and children, according to the latest data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, and more than 85% of the population has been forcibly displaced from their homes, according to EFE.
