Lanzarote becomes the venue for the Lyon's Freestyle International Dance Congress

For the first time, Lanzarote becomes the venue for an international dance congress, integrated into the world circuit. And it does so by presenting a cast of dancers that, according to experts, places the event among the five best in Spain right from the start. The first edition of the Lanzarote Lyon's Freestyle International Dance Congress opens its doors this Thursday at the Biosfera hall in Arrecife starting at 9:30 p.m. The organizers, participants, and dancers who will be giving workshops starting Friday morning at the Hotel Beatriz in Costa Teguise will be there. Locals from Lanzarote who simply want to have fun can also join this initiative.

Salsa, the queen of Latin rhythms, joins different artistic disciplines such as hip-hop, contemporary, acrobatic, and ballroom dancing. In fact, the event, which is held from May 1st to 4th, is attended by the 2007 Salsa World Champions, the Brazilian Adrián and the Uruguayan Anita. The international Hip-Hop champions will also be there.

The Congress has a tourist promotional character, corroborated by the registration of dozens of participants of different nationalities, attracted by the "important cast of participating dancers", according to the Teguise City Council. They come from different Spanish provinces, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Cuba, among other destinations.

During the days, the participants will have three dance rooms at their disposal. It is also planned that - also in a novel way on the island - professors from the University of Salsa will teach an official course for instructors of this discipline.

The Congress is organized by the Lanzarote Dance club and the Teguise City Council.
