The protected landscape of La Geria is celebrating the festivities of Nuestra Señora de La Caridad, which this Friday had its main event with the traditional harvest. Once again, in Bodegas La Geria, the origins of this space have been revived, using camels and the most traditional methods that were used in the past for the harvest.
Locals and tourists have gathered to enjoy this spectacle, which has included the treading of the grapes. In addition, at 11 am, there was a performance by the Los Salineros de La Hoya band, which provided music for the festive day.
Although this Friday was the highlight of the festivities, the events actually began on Thursday, with a popular barbecue where winegrowers, winemakers and residents of the municipality and Lanzarote were able to fraternize on the esplanade of Bodegas Rubicón. The event began at 7:30 p.m. and continued with music from the El Geito band.
As a grand finale to two days of celebration, this Friday also saw the Solemn Function in honor of the Marian invocation of the Virgen de La Caridad at 7 p.m., which ended outside the hermitage with a performance by the Janubio band.
