The Democracy Society paid an emotional tribute to Paco Toledo, one of the most charismatic voices of Lanzarote. An event that is part of the program for the 50th Anniversary of the inauguration of the current social headquarters. For this, it had the complicity of several singers from the island, some of whom coincided on stage with Paco Toledo, who recently passed away.
The event, presided over by his widow Mª Carmen Alberdi and his son Paco, began at 9:00 p.m. last Friday with the social hall filled to the brim with family, friends and acquaintances of the singer who also wanted to honor him with their presence. The board of directors of the Democracy society, chaired by Orlando Suárez, contacted the musicians and singers, taking care of even the smallest detail for a very special event. Well-known singers from the island paraded across the stage, such as José Cruz, Tilo Morales, Daniel Moisés, Arminda Martín, Juan Perdomo, Gerardo Arbelo, Il Divo Fusión. The components of the orchestra, Estrella del Sur, belonging to the Artiles family, closed the event, to which some musician friends were also added, with the singer Santos acting as vocalist.
Each of the performers sang some of the songs that Paco Toledo sang in the festivals and galas in which he participated throughout the island. Paco was always a great admirer of Los Panchos, Javier Solís or Valen, among many others. His genre was always the bolero, the ballad and the rancheras. Before the end of the event, the president of the Democracy society, Orlando Suárez, and Julio Romero, president of the Yacht Club, presented commemorative plaques to the widow and son. Then Mª Carmen, with a broken voice, addressed all those present to thank them for the welcome to such an emotional event "In memory of Paco Toledo."
