La Santa Hostel has reopened its doors this summer, after seven years of inactivity. Following the awarding of its management and operation last October to the company Lude Gestiones y Servicios S.L. through a public tender called by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the hostel is now reopening with an accommodation capacity of 137 places and a wide range of sports, environmental, educational and youth leisure activities. Various camps for the little ones or the 'Crazy Summer' campaign of the Tinajo City Council are taking place there this summer.
Its renovated facilities include dormitories, showers, a dining room, a library, multipurpose rooms, a theater and sports courts, which make La Santa Hostel an "ideal place for use and enjoyment by groups, youth associations, sports clubs, the teaching community and citizens in general, as well as suitable accommodation space for groups that come to spend a few days on the island", highlights the Councilor for Youth and Sports of the Cabildo, and head of the La Santa Hostel area, Patricia Pérez.
One of these groups that currently enjoys all these activities are the little ones between the ages of 3 and 12 enrolled in the 'Crazy Summer' campaign, organized by the Tinajo City Council and which will run until August 28 with groups made up of about 120 boys and girls, which are renewed every two weeks.
Summer camps
At the same time, La Santa Hostel will host from Monday, July 20, the first of the two summer camps programmed by Lude, aimed at children between 8 and 14 years of age, and whose registration is done at the facilities of the Arrecife Municipal Swimming Pool (telephone numbers 928 818 039 and 633 532 856).
On August 3, the second of the ten-day camps will begin, which "at the price of 295 euros with discounts for siblings and payment facilities, includes accommodation, four daily meals, leisure, sports and outdoor activities, as well as transfers to the beach and the La Santa lake", they explain from the Cabildo.
Patricia Pérez, accompanied by the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, and the director of the hostel, Simón Gil, toured the hostel facilities this Wednesday, which also offers the possibility of accommodation to the general public in individual and shared rooms, with prices ranging between 12 and 28 euros.
From the Island Corporation they recall that these facilities, built in 1991, "were only used at the time for the development of summer camps, but as their opening license was not finalized, the activities had to be suspended in 2008". Since that year, the Cabildo of Lanzarote "has had to adapt and make various improvements and investments, in addition to overcoming various administrative procedures to comply with all the requirements and obtain the aforementioned license, which has allowed the awarding of its management and the opening of its doors to the public", they point out.
