The active cases of covid in Lanzarote now amount to 383, 52 more in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands in the data update carried out at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, August 29.
Arrecife is the municipality with the most diagnosed cases of coronavirus in this second wave, registering 351. However, the mayor, Ástrid Pérez, has stated that many of them do not correspond to residents of the capital since "the statistics of the Canary Islands Health Service are by Health Areas and the residents of Playa Honda are linked, through their health cards, to the Titerroy Health Center. Even tourists and visitors who test positive are assigned to Arrecife as the General Hospital of Lanzarote is located here."
The rest of the positives are distributed as follows: Tías 12, Teguise 8, Yaiza 7, Tinajo 3 and San Bartolomé 2.
Of the people diagnosed, ten are hospitalized, one of them in the ICU. The rest, 373, are in home isolation.
The number of accumulated cases on the island amounts to 488 since the pandemic began.
