First Covid-19 outbreak in the Canary Islands with 10 affected by a private party

The Canary Islands has diagnosed the first outbreak of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 this Wednesday in Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. In total there are 10 people infected after a private party was held in a villa in Fuerteventura attended by more than 40 people and a subsequent intra-family celebration in Gran Canaria.

Of the 10 affected, five are in Gran Canaria and another five in Fuerteventura. Meanwhile, the Minister of Health continues its case tracking work and has isolated the rest of the people who were at both private parties. In this sense, the Ministry of Health has warned that the majority of outbreaks throughout Spain are occurring in this type of meeting (40%) and states that it is due to an excessive relaxation of security measures.

In Tenerife, there have been two new cases that are related to the person who arrived from the United States infected with coronavirus and who has been admitted to the ICU, bringing the total number of affected to three. This is already an outbreak, although it is controlled. In Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, there are also two controlled outbreaks of migrants with Covid-19, totaling 43 people.
