Lanzarote and La Graciosa move to alert level 3 this Monday in light of the evolution of their epidemiological indicators, according to the agreement adopted on Friday by the Canary Islands Government Council, in the weekly update of health alert levels, based on the epidemiological report of the General Directorate of Public Health, on the evolution of health indicators by Covid.
These islands are in a situation of high transmission risk, due to a very abrupt worsening of the epidemiological situation with an exponential increase in the Cumulative Incidence at 7 days in the last week.
This change of level will come into effect at 00.00 hours this Monday, January 10, being subject to periodic re-evaluations.
Measures and restrictions at alert level 3
With this change of level, the measures established for this alert level 3 in Decree Law 11/2021, of September 2, on measures for the control and management of the Covid pandemic in the Canary Islands, will be applicable.
Among the main general measures, it is recalled that the capacity, except for those activities or services in which it is expressly established, at alert level 3 is maintained at 50 percent of the capacity outdoors and 33 percent in indoor spaces.
The permanence of groups of people in public and private spaces, closed or outdoors, at alert level 3 is limited to a maximum of six people, except for cohabitants. In the event that the group is made up of cohabitants and non-cohabitants, the maximum number of people established will not be exceeded.
The closing time in establishments and activities that prior to the pandemic did not have a closing time set or had a higher one set is set at 01.00 hours.
Regarding the measures for hospitality, restaurants and terraces, bars and cafeterias, the maximum occupancy per table will be six people and full closure is established at 01.00 hours. The capacity of these establishments is 75 percent outdoors and 40 percent indoors.
At alert level 3, the practice of non-federated physical and sports activity in sports facilities and centers will have a public capacity of 50 percent outdoors and 33 percent indoors, in maximum groups of six people, except for cohabitants. Combat activities or other types in which continuous interpersonal physical contact with the opponent is required are not allowed. During the performance of the activity, the interpersonal distance of 2 meters will be maintained and the use of a mask will be mandatory during sports practice or activity, except for the exceptions provided for in article 9 of the Decree Law.
Until January 31, in regular land, urban and metropolitan public transport, the capacity will be 100 percent, as approved in the session of the Governing Council on December 16.
Mandatory Covid certificate
The Ministry of Health recalls that the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands ratified the mandatory implementation of the COVID certificate for all sectors that are subject to capacity or time restrictions on the islands that are at alert levels 3 and 4.
This obligation affects establishments and activities subject to time and capacity limits on the islands at levels 3 and 4 and does not allow them to benefit from applying measures of the lower level as had been happening when the use of the covid certificate remained voluntary on the islands at alert levels 1 and 2.
Therefore, access for users over 12 years and 3 months to certain establishments, facilities or activities will require accreditation of the absence of active Covid infection, by presenting a negative result of an PDIA (diagnostic test of active Covid infection) performed in a legally authorized laboratory with a maximum advance of 48 hours, self-diagnosis tests not being admissible.
This accreditation may be replaced at the option of the interested party, by the accreditation of vaccination against Covid officially certified the complete guideline thereof, from 14 days after the administration of the last dose of the complete guideline, or by the accreditation of having passed the disease between 11 and 180 previous, by official certification. The presentation in digital or paper format will be made to the persons designated for access control by the owner or manager of the establishment or activity.
