Emerlan has made a call for help and solidarity "in extremis". It states that it has assigned about 2,000 people for food distribution and that today it is "in the painful situation of not being able to cope with all those who need this imperative help of this basic sustenance." "And that defeats us," they say from the NGO.
"Since this pandemic began and especially since it forced the tourism sector, our main engine, and many other companies to reduce and even stop all activity, family situations have become extremely delicate," Emerlan explains.
Faced with this, they state that "from the first moments" they set to work with all their staff, "without taking into account the days or the number of hours worked," to "be one more resource that, in collaboration with private and especially public institutions, would help the people and families who were having the worst time."
To this end, they explain that they reconditioned their headquarters, an industrial warehouse, to establish a conservation system (even with cold conservation systems), classification and functional and efficient distribution." However, they state that "currently and in a short time, the situation of demand for help has multiplied exponentially." "Many of the institutions mentioned have their assistance and social aid services saturated and we attest to this situation," they add.

In this regard, they detail that they receive "almost 7,000 kilos of food every six months from the European Food Bank." "In addition, the Arrecide Food Bank also sends us what they can," they point out. However, Emerlan assures that it has "520 families assigned, almost 2,000 people, for the distribution of this aid", which implies "the approximate monthly amount of 8,000 or 9,000 kilos" of food, something they say they cannot cope with.
Therefore, the NGO states that it is "in the need" to make "this public and desperate call to continue extending a hand to those who today find themselves in this painful situation." "It hurts us to see how every day more families come to us asking for help, but it hurts us more to see how we cannot cope with their plea". she adds.
Thus, Emerlan appeals "to the people of Conejero and their sense of humanity to ask that any person, family or company that can donate any type of food", do so, either by taking it to its headquarters, on Calle Sitio del Cabrerón s/n, behind Electrón, or by calling them to come and pick it up. It also provides its account number (ES34 2100 4359 1102 0006 1935) because "any contribution is welcome for this purpose."

"Our doors are always open to any person or institution that wants to see firsthand our facilities and the work that our volunteers do, from the reception and classification of food, through storage to daily distribution," they say from the NGO.
Finally, Emerlan thanks "in advance" the people of Lanzarote. "They have never disappointed us and we are sure that now, more than ever, they will not," they add from Emerlan, from where they point out that "only with joint work can we cope with and get out of this situation." "A thousand thanks on behalf of those who now cannot even give them," he concludes.
