Last Thursday night, the Torrelavega Society closed the first phase of the events programmed to mark its 75th anniversary. The event began with welcome words from the president, Toñín Ramos, who thanked all those who, with their collaboration, have made it possible to carry out all the open-door events programmed for members and the general public. Ramos made a special mention to all the media, including Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero and La Voz de Lanzarote, presenting them with a painting with the society's logo, designed by César Manrique.
The president also had words of thanks for the public institutions represented there, such as the Cabildo of Lanzarote, with the Minister of Culture, Alberto Aguiar, the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, María Dolores, and the Mayor of the Arrecife City Council, Astrid Pérez. All of them congratulated the directors of the Torrelavega Society for its 75th Anniversary and for the dedication and good work in favor of culture and sport for so many years, encouraging them to continue committing and to continue working for the good of our culture and traditions.
The closing was in charge of "El Casual Combo Big Band", formed by a total of 17 musicians distributed among trumpets, trombones, saxophones, drums, piano, guitar and electric bass and directed by the professor Ayoze Rodríguez, where all together they performed well-known compositions such as Hey Jude by the Beatles, Oh happy Day by Edwin Hawkins, Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock, among others. The performance ended with two encores with Christmas airs at the request of the public, who did not stop applauding them throughout the concert.
Once the next Christmas holidays have passed, the events that have been pending will be resumed, whose programming will be announced in due time for the enjoyment of members and the general public.
