The El Cribo Association started its activities this Thursday to commemorate World Mental Health Day. From 10 in the morning, informative tables were placed on Calle Real in Arrecife, with an exhibition and sale of the different works carried out by users in the different occupational workshops.
This Friday the information tables continued on Calle Real from 10 in the morning and at 11.30 the Cribo batucada performed. Already on Monday, October 10, at the Sociedad Democracia and from 8:00 p.m., the presentation ceremony of World Mental Health Day will take place. There will be a play under the title "I am like you even if you don't know it yet", a talk by Dr. Raúl Otín, head of the Psychiatry Service, and a performance by the group "El Cribo Canta". The commemorative events will end with a Family Meeting on Saturday, October 15 at the Nazaret Sociocultural Center, starting at 11 in the morning.
The El Cribo Association has invited "the entire society of Lanzarote to participate in the different events, in order to learn firsthand about the real situation of mental health care and the needs of people with mental disorders and their families." "Our objective is to raise awareness among the population about the idea that mental health affects all people equally and that diversity enriches societies and cultures, it is necessary to eradicate unfounded stigmas and prejudices, since we share more similarities than differences and we all have the right to live in equality and not suffer situations of social disadvantage," they explain.
