Costa Teguise prepares for the second edition of its local festivities

Costa Teguise will celebrate its festivities from this Thursday, September 22nd, until October 2nd. The tourist town has set out to consolidate its own local festival and the residents themselves, with the collaboration of business owners, associations, and the Teguise City Council and Lanzarote Tourism, have organized what is the second edition of their festivities, in which there will be recreational, sports and cultural activities in the streets.

The activities will begin with the welcome parade and will continue with soccer and skate championships, fashion shows, painting exhibition, theater, fishing and dessert contests, children's activities, Pokemon Go session, board games, night walk, zumba, comic workshop, folklore meeting, judo exhibition... They will end with the Great Humor Gala "Made in the Canary Islands", with Manolo Vieira, Kike Pérez and Aarón Gómez, on Sunday, October 2nd, at 8:30 p.m. at the Nautical Shopping Center. That will be precisely one of the main stages during these festivities.

"The town of Costa Teguise is advancing in many ways and directions, imprinting its own mark with the enthusiasm that characterizes a young town with an enormous social and cultural openness, and with a great desire to share," said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, in the presentation greeting of this new popular call.

"The social context of Costa Teguise has changed, a new face is being configured that is giving rise to new spaces and customs in which to imprint a mark and in which to stage artistic and cultural expressions in this public ritual that is now presented every end of summer as an authentic local festival designed by the citizens themselves," Betancort pointed out.

The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Agustín Méndez, and the Head of Festivities, Olivia Duque, have congratulated all those who have participated and collaborated in the preparation of the program, and encourage residents and tourists to join each of the events proposed by the Festival Commission "with the greatest of illusions".

Concert by the Tenerife reggae group Eclipse, this Saturday

The local musical proposals, with groups such as Maldito Duende, Treinta y Tantos, Vil Metal, Los Magnéticos and Emisora Clandestina, will be accompanied by a novelty on the island of Lanzarote, with the performance of a group that has shared the stage with numerous national and international artists from the world of reggae, such as The Original Wailers, Stanley Beckford, Turbulence, Queen Ifrica or Brinsley Forde, former member of Aswad, among others. This is Eclipse Reggae, which will perform this Saturday, September 24th.

The group, considered one of the most cutting-edge in the Canarian music scene, was born in 1996 in Arafo (Tenerife), between a fusion of Luna and Sol. Thanks to their 4 albums on the market, "Rasta" (2001), "Buenos momentos" (2003), their compilation "15 years with Eclipse" (2011) and "Mucho amor" (2013), as well as the promotion of five video clips on the main television channels, this band has taken its fresh musical fusion of reggae around the entire Canarian island geography and several of the most prestigious festivals at a national level.

It has performed at the most important musical events on the islands, and at famous national festivals, such as the Txapel Reggae (Armintza-Bizkaia) in the Basque Country on two occasions (2006/2007). In 2008 it was selected to represent Spain at the International Congress of Producers and Musical Editors (SIMBA) held in the disappeared Sala Ritmo y Compás in Madrid. In 2009, Eclipse Reggae won the "Dorada en Vivo" contest at the island level and managed to make one of its dreams come true, performing alongside the mythical band that accompanied Bob Marley, "The Original Wailers".

At the end of 2012, the band presented itself in the national "Braum Cruzer" contest, along with more than 1,000 bands. After an initial popular vote, Eclipse managed to make a place for itself among the 10 most voted bands and was subsequently selected by EMI España Producciones as one of the three finalist bands to share the stage with "Macaco", in a concert held at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Currently, the band is preparing the presentation tour of its fourth album, "Mucho Amor".
