The story of Princess Yaiza will arrive next Saturday on the children's channel Clan from the hand of the Lunnis, who will bring children closer to one of the most deeply rooted legends in Lanzarote. The program, which will be broadcast at 11:05 a.m., has been reviewing legends from all over the Spanish geography for five seasons.
"This week's chapter in 'Lunnis de leyenda' is a Canarian legend that tells the love story of Princess Yaiza. Her father forced her to marry a suitor, but she wanted the love of young Acaymo. He and the one who was chosen by her father, played for her hand with a test," explains the statement sent by Televisión Española to announce the program.
With this series, Clan explains that it intends to "revise history in a children's key" and transmit "knowledge of local traditions and values such as integration, gender equality or teamwork".
Throughout the five seasons that it has been on the air, legends such as those of the Xana fountain in Asturias have been reviewed; Gara and Jonay from the Canary Islands; Sigurd and the treasure of Formentera; Olentzero from the Basque Country, or Sant Jordi and the dragon from Catalonia. Or stories and characters such as the Galician heroine María Pita, the courageous knight El Cid, the geniuses of letters Cervantes and Quevedo, Hannibal, Ramón y Cajal, Blas de Lezo or Gonzalo Guerrero. And in the fourth season, which has just been broadcast, those of Velázquez, the mole of the León cathedral, Concepción Arenal, Marie Curie or the Olympic champion Lucio Minicio.
