The "Titerroy" group, made up of students from the I.E.S. Blas Cabrera Felipe de Arrecife, has obtained the first prize, within the category of the second cycle of E.S.O., in the autonomous phase of the school contest "Responsible Consumption and Quality of Life 2006/2007" (Consumópolis), a pedagogical initiative organized by the General Directorate of Consumption of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The prizes of this autonomous phase consist of 600 euros for each group of winning students of each cycle and 400 euros for each educational center to which said group belongs. The winners of each of the autonomous communities will participate in the national phase of the contest.
The objective of Consumópolis is to raise awareness among young people about the benefits of responsible consumption following the guidelines of the four "C"s: know, understand, compare and consume, with the aim of becoming conscious, critical and supportive consumers. All this through four scenes: "At home", "At school", "On the street" and "Shopping".
This new edition was aimed at students in the third cycle of Primary Education and the first and second cycle of Compulsory Secondary Education. In teams of five students, they had to solve some tests of a pedagogical and playful nature, and then prepare a team work consisting of the elaboration of an advertising campaign that promoted the values of responsible consumption, as well as a written report on the participation of the team.
