After more than a year of struggle, Blas Cabrera's family has recovered part of the manuscripts, which until now had been guarded by Francisco González de Posada. Although the descendants of the Canarian physicist have argued that "not everything has been handed over".
According to sources close to the Cabrera family speaking to La Voz, within the scientific material delivered by González de Posada - which includes titles such as "History of Physics", one of his last works, and "Theory of Relativity", on the studies of Albert Einstein - documents are still missing. "González de Posada says he has handed over everything, but that's not the case," say the sources consulted by this newspaper.
Conciliation Act
On November 2, the courts of Arrecife approved the holding of a conciliation act demanded by the Cabrera family for next December 14. Before this date, González de Posada "must return the missing material, but it does not seem that he is going to do so", explains the Cabrera representative, so "although they have asked him to do so, the physicist's descendants are not going to back down: they will continue the legal process against him for appropriating items that do not belong to him, until he returns everything".
More than a year of process
The recovery of the aforementioned titles began in 2021, with the publication of the book "Blas Cabrera, Spanish and universal scientist", where the author spoke of one of his last works, "History of Physics".
But it was not until now that the family has been able to recover this and "Theory of Relativity", which have been transferred to the Complutense University of Madrid, where Blas Cabrera studied his degree and
did his doctorate and became a professor and rector.
However, this agreement with the training space is pending the formalization of another agreement with other Canarian entities that have contributed to the recovery of the scientist's memory, such as the University of La Laguna or the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
