The Arrecife City Council has inaugurated the traditional nativity scene that is located in the Ramírez Cerdá Park.
The Nativity Scene has been created under the direction and design of Juan José Torres, “Tejure”, and Pedro Vilalba. “In 2019, when I arrived at the Mayor's office, the municipality lacked a municipal nativity scene, and we set to work so that the capital would have a proper nativity scene”, the Mayor pointed out at the inauguration.
The Portal has a total area of 250 square meters, and a wide variety of materials have been used for its elaboration, such as wood, porex, polyester, clay, sand, paints. “I invite everyone to visit this municipal nativity scene and enjoy the great work done by Tejure and Pedro Villalba”, says the Councilor for Festivities, Encarna Páez, for her part.
In the nativity scene there are about 450 clay figures, some of them mobile, from the best artisans in Valencia. Of all the figures, 50 of them are houses, 30 boats, 60 palm trees and different trees, even including the famous leaning palm tree of Masdache, an icon of the island that was felled last November.
“During these last three years, both Tejure and Pedro Villalba have been increasing the number of figures, and improving the municipal nativity scene even more”, added the Mayor of Arrecife, who greatly appreciated the contribution of both in the realization of this municipal birth.
The inauguration was also attended by the Corporation of the parish priest of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, who blessed the traditional nativity scene of Arrecife.
It will be open to the public and free of charge from this Wednesday, December 7, from 09:00 to 22:00 hours.
