Protest Against Hunting

About 40 people demonstrated this Sunday morning in Lanzarote against Hunting. They join the "No to Hunting" platform, made up of more than 200 organizations from all over the national territory, which have gathered in different cities in Spain.

The march began at the Arrecife Fairgrounds at 11:00 a.m. and continued to the door of the capital's City Hall. Once there, a manifesto was read, which is the same one that has been read in all the concentrations in the national territory.

From the NAC association they point out that the month of February has been chosen because it coincides "with the end of the hunting season with greyhounds." In reference to this, he points out that 70% of the dogs rescued by shelters are "hunting dogs," according to reports from some of the country's associations.

In addition, NAC points out that during the hunting season "22 million animals" are killed, and that in addition, so far this century, hunting has caused "1,500 deaths of people and 5,000 injuries." They also point out that "100,000 aquatic birds are poisoned" each year due to lead in aquifers and, finally, they point out as "victims" of hunting the animals themselves that are used as a "tool" for hunting.
