Carmen Gonzalo Pérez, a student from IES de Tinajo, has been one of the young people who has obtained the Extraordinary Baccalaureate Award in the academic year 2018/2019. The Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports announced these distinctions this Wednesday, which officially recognize the students of the Archipelago with the best academic performance in this educational stage, with its publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.
A total of 15 students from 12 Secondary Education institutes in the Canary Islands have obtained the Extraordinary Baccalaureate Award in the academic year 2019/2019. In addition to Carmen Gonzalo, the award winners are Alba Medina Reyes, Pablo Rivero García and Alberto Rivero García (IES Politécnico Las Palmas), Paula Toledano Cabrera and María Mateo Motos (CPEPS Atlantic School Garoé), Yeiko Suárez Hernández (IES Los Tarajales) and José Carlos Martín Alonso (IES Ingenio).
In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the distinctions have gone to José Eduardo Seeman González (IES Telesforo Bravo, Puerto de la Cruz), Patricia Hernández Rodríguez, (CEIPS Hispano Inglés), Marcos Lima Acosta (IES Tomás de Iriarte), Alba Comas Correa (CEIPS Hispano Británico), Daniel Hernández Peña (IES Viera y Clavijo), Héctor Rodríguez Rodríguez (IES Villa de Mazo) and Sara González Pérez (EASD Fernando Estévez).
The awarded students are exempt from paying the tuition fee for the first year of university studies in which they enroll. Obtaining this distinction allows them to apply, after registration, for the National Baccalaureate Awards.
In order to participate in the call for these annual awards, you must have a grade equal to or greater than 8.75 points, as an average grade for the two courses. In addition, the students who were opting for these awards took a test consisting of several exercises referring to subjects they took in the second year of Baccalaureate.
