The agents of the Minors and Family Unit (UMEF), of the Local Police of Arrecife, have recently been trained in a training program on the procedures and methods of action on 'Violence against Children and Adolescents (attached to the Court specialized in Violence against Children and Adolescents). The training has been received in Tenerife, and has been taught by the General Corps of the Canary Police, dependent on the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Yonathan de León, as the direct head of the Local Police Department, is promoting measures so that Arrecife has a Local Police Force with agents permanently trained in each of the divisions that the Local Police has in operation.

In addition to continuous training, the City Council is providing new equipment, vehicles and more personnel so that the Local Police can strengthen its services to society, both to residents and tourists.

The training has allowed several agents of the UMEF group to join the Minors Group of the General Corps of the Canary Police, sharing methods, work procedures and the ordinary activity that is carried out.

The agents, who are part of the team specialized in matters of minors in Arrecife, have been instructed on the procedures and methods of action carried out by the Violence against Children and Adolescents team (attached to the Court specialized in Violence against Children and Adolescents), as well as the activity in collaboration with the personnel of the Minors Group, attached to the Prosecutor's Office for Minors of Las Palmas.

De León has highlighted that this collaboration between the Local Police and the Canary Police has allowed to establish cooperation ties between both police forces, in order to provide a "much more efficient" attention to minors at risk in Lanzarote.

In addition, the agents of the unit, who have already developed several important services for the local community, are dressed as 'civilians' in their deployments for the better development of their functions. Likewise, the vehicles they use are camouflaged.
