The circulation of the sections next to the Vía Medular and José Pereyra Galviaty street, through which the large underground pipe of the new submarine emissary runs, has reopened to traffic since this Thursday.

The state-owned company Acuaes began the execution of the works of the new network of the Arrecife submarine emissary in the summer of 2023, which transports the treated water from the Arrecife station to the sea, which collects the sewage from the capital of Lanzarote, the most populated city on the island, as well as from Playa Honda and San Bartolomé.

In past decades, it was decided that all the sanitation networks of this municipality adjacent to Arrecife should be channeled and treated in the WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) in Montaña Mina, and evacuated through the Arrecife submarine emissary network.
