National Police agents have arrested two 17-year-old minors in Arrecife as alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery. They demanded that a minor steal a package of cookies from an establishment in Arrecife, and when he refused, they kicked and punched him, also stealing a backpack and a watch.
The events unfolded after a man called the 091 telephone number reporting that two minors had beaten and robbed his 17-year-old son in a park in the capital of Lanzarote. The agents who arrived at the scene interviewed the minor, who stated that two acquaintances had demanded that he enter a nearby establishment to steal a package of cookies.
When he refused, the two young men kicked and punched him to steal a backpack and a watch. He later had to be assisted at a nearby health center due to the multiple contusions he suffered.
Police efforts allowed the alleged perpetrators to be located, who had hidden in a construction a few meters from the scene. There, the agents proceeded to arrest both for a crime of robbery with violence and recovered the backpack, which was returned to its rightful owner.
After verifying that they were two minors, both 17 years old, the police officers brought all the facts to the attention of the Minors Section of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Las Palmas. After the corresponding police report was prepared, the two minors were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
