Three Dominican men were arrested last week in Lanzarote for an alleged crime against public health for drug trafficking and another alleged crime of illegal possession of weapons. During a police operation, 6.5 kilograms of cocaine, a revolver, 6,000 euros and valuable jewelry were seized.
The organization investigated by the authorities would be planning to introduce large quantities of drugs to the island, as revealed by sources close to the investigation.
The first arrest was made to one of the members of the alleged criminal organization, who was intercepted while traveling from Cádiz to Lanzarote by boat, with a vehicle on board. At the dock there were two other people waiting for the accused who were also arrested in the framework of the operation. Upon arrival on land, the suspect's vehicle was inspected.
At the time of the boat's docking, the main suspect and another person were supervising the arrival of the boat, according to sources close to the investigation. When the vehicle was seized and transferred to police headquarters, up to 5.8 kilograms of cocaine were found inside. The authorities also carried out searches in the homes of the accused, located in Madrid and Lanzarote, seizing 600 grams more of cocaine, a revolver and cash.
The case is already in the hands of the Investigating Court number two of Arrecife. Two of the detainees have been placed at the disposal of the court, while another has been released.
